More About Patty
The Founder and Director of Hand in Hand Parenting
Since 1974, the focus of Patty’s work has been teaching basic listening, parenting, and leadership skills to parents. In 1989, she founded the non-profit Parents Leadership Institute, which evolved into Hand In Hand Parenting.
The author of Listen: Five Simple Tools to Meet Your Everyday Parenting Challenges, Patty also authored the Building Emotional understanding and Understanding Tears and Tantrums courses, which have transformed the lives of thousands of parents and children in the U.S. and abroad. Her many booklets, videotapes, audiotapes, podcasts, and articles bring the principles and benefits of Parenting by Connection to parents around the world. Her materials are currently published in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese; several other languages will be added soon.
A frequent speaker at global parenting conferences, Patty has a wealth of experience from supporting thousands of families around the world. She has led over 400 workshops for families in the US and in 23 countries.
Certified Parenting by Connection Instructor, UK
Born in Dubai to East-African parents with Indian origin, she moved to the US in her teens and then to the UK in her twenties. She has a degree in Psychology and more recently, a diploma in Montessori teaching.
Shaheen currently lives in the UK (Hertfordshire area) and offers in-person courses, as well as day seminars. She has also travelled to the USA and Canada to deliver workshops, and is due to venture into East Africa too!

A Conscious Parenting Educator, Social Entrepreneur and Founder of Tanshia. Anisa is also a trained CTI Co-Active Coach and a Social Policy Expert.
She is passionate about family issues, child development and education.
She holds a master’s degree in international social policy from Bath University in the UK, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from UAE University. An experienced speaker, Anisa has participated in high-level government events and conferences.
